Do you love a mystery?

Tuesday, November 8th, 2005

There was a contest at my school recently: Library Challenge @ Brooklyn College Library. When I saw that, my first thought was, Meh. I’m really not into the whole school thing. But then I figured, Hey! Free flash drive! So I gave it a go (found the four “secrets” within minutes) and I got an email on Wednesday letting me know I was one of the winners.

I was only able to pick up my prize today morning. (I’d almost forgotten, too. I happily walked towards the library — like I usually do in the mornings before class — completely passing by the Library Café, where the prizes were being distributed.) I was almost hoping it would be a flash drive of a higher quality. Or at least with more memory. (Something along the lines of this, a beauty retailing for $245.) But, no… I was presented with a SuperTalentFlash 128MB USB 2.0 Flash Memory Drive.

When I showed signs of disappointment, Alex laughed at me and said, “It was free. Stop being so lame.”

I guess he had a point. At least now I have a tiny USB flash drive. It’s tiny! And blue! And it was free. All I had to do to get it was look at some source code.

…Oops.
